UC Spring Sports Teams Honored For Their Seasons, Accomplishments

Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School spring sports teams celebrated their respective seasons recently with banquets, honoring both their seasons and individual accomplishments.
 
The UCHS tennis teams, along with both the baseball and softball squads, enjoyed get-togethers and fellowship with head coaches Tom Sisco, Cole McAdams and J.B. Suiter all recognizing their teams’ success during the 2019 season.
 
UNION CITY SOFTBALL
 
AWARD WINNERS
 
The Union City High School softball team won the District 13A Tournament championship and advanced to the regional to highlight a 19-win season.
 
The team celebrated those feats with a banquet in the commons area of UCHS last week.
 
Earning individual accolades for the season were (from left) Avery Decker, Gold Glove and Tornado Award; Kaitlyn Lamb, Most Improved; Gabby Jones, For the Love of the Game Award; Tiffanie Oldaker, Silver Slugger Award; Gracie Laster, Leadership Award; Sophie Theobald, Newcomer of the Year Award.
 
Named to the 13A All-District team were  Avery Decker, Gracie Laster, Tiffanie Oldaker and Sophie Theobald.

SENIOR LEADERS
 
 
The Union City High School tennis team had a postseason awards party at the home of Lady Tornado player Zoe Cagle, with the senior players receiving recognition of their accomplishments.
 
Boys’ seniors honored were Hayden Wilson, Justin Rice, Wilson Harris, Walker Ross and Conner Terrell.
 
The girls’ seniors are Sailor Bearden, Gussie Parks and Meg Kizer.
 
Both teams won the district championship, and the Lady Twisters advanced to the state team tournament.
 
 
UNION CITY BASEBALL
 
SENIOR LEADERS
 
Senior members of the UCHS baseball team were recognized for their accomplishments at a Sunday banquet at the high school. This particular group of 11 seniors won 90 games during their high school careers, including three trips to the regional tournament and one appearance in the state tourney.
 
The Golden Tornadoes won 24 games this season, including a second straight District 13A regular season title, a year after setting a school record with 36 vicories
 
Five of the seniors also shined with a 30 or better on the ACT.
 
Among those lauded werePreston Little, Peyton Edwards, Piece Kizer, Dawson Searcy, Austin Atwill,  Will Hogan, Conner Hurt, Miles Odle, Tyler Walton and Jaxon Moran and Carson Sinclair.
