Paris, Tenn.-The city of Paris issued eight business licenses in April and retail sales tax revenue for the month of March reflected the highest monthly increase this year at 4.43% compared to March of last year, according to the report presented by City Finance Director Traci Shannon.
Additionally, revenues were ahead of expenditures for the month of April across the board for all funds. Fiscal year-to-date our General Fund is also ahead.
Shannon said, “We didn’t have any out of the ordinary expenses in April. However, expenditures will probably exceed revenues in the month of May due to the large principal payments that will be made on our bonded debt. We do receive the majority of our business tax payments from the State during the month of May which could offset some of debt payment.”
