Graves County, Ky.—Despite changing the color of the truck they stole in Graves County with spray paint, both suspects were arrested Saturday evening after a short pursuit—in North Carolina.
According to the press release from the Graves Co. Sheriff’s Office, a deputy at the Henderson County, N.C. sheriff’s office was alerted to the stolen truck by his license plate recognition system. The red truck had been spray painted black.
Deputy Turpin initiated a traffic stop and the driver, Dalton Crouch of Graves County, sped away. After a two-mile pursuit, the driver stopped and at that time, the passenger, Heather Wilson, fled on foot.
According to the press release, there was an empty can of black spray paint in the truck and Crouch still had black paint on his index finger. She was taken into custody a short time later at a Hendersonville hotel. Both have numerous charges in North Carolina and Wilson has charges from North Carolina, as well.
The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said they would like to thank Henderson County, NC, Sheriff’s Office and all that assisted in this incident.
Graves County Deputy Dale Mason investigated the theft locally and had identified Wilson as a suspect. He also entered the vehicle as stolen in a national law enforcement database that enabled the North Carolina Sheriffs Deputy to identify the vehicle as stolen.
