Paris, Tenn.–At a short and sweet meeting at Rhea School Monday night, the Paris Special Schools District board of education were treated to a show and tell from first grade teachers and students.
Teachers Morgan Frey, Melanie Hendon, and Kim McDaniel–along with students Evan and Olive Barnett, who are twins–showed their project “Art A La Carte” which was financed with a Plus Endowment grant. The Barnett twins showed several examples of their artwork, which included paint drippings crafted by spaghetti noodles, a la Jackson Pollock.
Assistant Rhea Principal Lynda Searcy told the board the school had received 21 Plus Endowment grants which amounted to $10,000 over the years.
In other business, the board re-elected the same officers: Board Chair Richard Edwards; Vice Chair Bill Jelks; Secretary Amy Cathey.
In a follow-up from discussion last month, Maintenance Supervisor Jason Coffield said he had accepted the lowest bid–which also was the local bid–for the Rhea School paving project. The bid went to K&K of Paris. Only two other bids were received–from Murray Seal and Coating and PRI of Milan.
