Union City, Tenn.–Meeting in special session Thursday night, Obion Co. Schools board of education members voted 6-1 to accept the resignation of Director Dr. Leah Watkins. Watkins has accepted a position as Henry Co. Director of Schools.
Board Member Kyle Baggett cast the lone ‘no’ vote on her resignation. Board Chairman Fritz Fussell noted that Dr. Watkins’ contract called for a 60-day notice and Board Member Brian Rainey questioned whether Dr. Watkins should remain with the school system now that she has accepted the Henry Co. position.
In further discussion, board members decided to begin taking applications for the position immediately with the deadline of June 7.
