MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcat baseball program signed Stewart County High School standout Colton Donahue. Colton is the son of Patrick and Mary Donahue of Big Rock, Tennessee, and will major in Biology.
The all-district left-hander sports a 6-1-1 record and has a 2.12 ERA in his senior season. During his tenure he has helped lead Stewart County to a sub-state championship and an appearance in the TSSAA State Championship. The team finished runner-up in both district and region play.
He has been a member of the FFA and took honors in both math and science.
He feels his biggest strengths are his positive attitude and his ability to stay focused at all times during games.
Stewart County coach and Bethel alum Kelby McCaleb said, “Colton is a special player. He is a great young man in the classroom and shows leadership on and off the field. He has a loose demeanor pitching which creates a calming sense for his teammates during high pressure situations. He commands the strike zone and trusts his field to make plays for him.”
Bethel Coach Rusty Thompson commented, “We are excited Colton has decided to continue his career as a student-athlete here at Bethel. He fits the mold for what we are looking for with our pitching staff. He is a tough lefty who has a strong desire to win and improve. We look forward to working with him and seeing him progress as a player and student.”
