Bethel's McCloskey, HCHS's Gordon Win Spring Invitational Fishing Tournament

Huntingdon, Tenn.–HUGE CONGRATS to Joe McClosky of Bethel University Bass Fishing Team and Gavin Gordon of Henry County High School. They are the winners of the First Annual Spring Invitational Fishing Tournament hosted by Trapper Tackle and Bethel University this past Saturday on Carroll County 1,000 Acre Lake in Huntingdon.

Bethel fishing team coach Garry Mason and Trapper Tackle CEO David Freeman developed the tournament to invite area high school fishing teams to fish with the Bethel collegiate team, ranked #1 in the country. Kandi Ellis is coach of the Henry County High School fishing team.
The county High Schools of West Carroll, Benton and Henry were invited and the format was the largest fish caught. Despite the 40 degree temperatures and winds escalating to almost gale force, the intrepid anglers prevailed.
McClosky took the collegiate division with a 6 lb 10 oz bass (but he also caught a 4 lb 3 oz bass), and Gavin Gordon from Henry County took the high school division with a 3 lb 1 oz bass.
Both anglers won a spot on a 3-day offshore fishing trip in June on “The Intimidator” captained by Johnny Greene, one of the most successful captains on the Gulf Coast.
