Henry, Tenn.—A fire at a home on Hwy. 79 South of Paris Thursday morning took the life of an occupant.
Henry County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Damon Lowe said the name of the victim is not being released until notification of kin has been made.
Five people were in the home at 8518 Hwy. 79 South when the fire began and all were able to get out of the residence, but two were injured in the process. Henry County EMS transported both of the injured to the Henry County Medical Center, where one succumbed to their injuries and passed away.
The sheriff’s office, fire departments and other emergency personnel were called to the fire at 11:36 a.m. Upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames. The home belongs to Walter Steve Bowden, but Bowden was not at home at the time of the fire.
The home was destroyed, and Lowe said it is unknown what caused the fire. The sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division and the Tennessee State Bomb and Arson squad are on the scene investigating.
Fire departments on the scene were from Henry, Paris and McKenzie. The Henry County EMS also was on the scene.
