Dyersburg, Tenn.–A body was found in a remote wooded area just outside the city limits of Dyersburg Tuesday evening and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
On Tuesday, March 26, at approximately 5:57 p.m., deputies of the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call reporting a body found in a remote wooded area near South Rosemont Cove, just outside of the city limits.
Arriving on scene, deputies discovered the body of what appeared to be a black female.
According to Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box, Dyersburg Police Department were immediately notified of the finding and were also on scene.
At this time, information regarding the identity, cause of death, or approximate age of the body has not yet been released.
At the request of District Attorney General Danny Goodman, an investigation into the death of the woman has been turned over to TBI.
As of 10 p.m. Tuesday night, deputies and investigators of the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department remained on scene awaiting arrival of TBI’s Crime Scene Unit.
