Court Grants Exhumation In Henry Co. Court Case

Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Circuit Court Judge Donald Parish granted a motion by state prosecutors to exhume the body of a victim of a car crash to determine who was driving the car at the time of the crash, which occurred September of 2017.
The court approved exhumation of the body of Phillip Frazee of Buchanan, who was 18 years old when he was killed in the accident.
Jarod Christopher Ashby of Puryear, who also was 18 when the accident occurred, is charged with 31 counts including two counts of vehicular homicide, aggravated assault and DUI.
In court filings, Ashby’s defense attorney Andy Clark contends that it is uncertain if Ashby or Frazee was driving the car. Clark has also argued whether Frazee died as a result of the crash.
At the time of the crash the Tennessee Highway Patrol issued an investigative report stating that Ashby had been driving.
In the state’s motion for the exhumation, Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Griffey argued exhumation and autopsy would confirm cause of death and determine where Frazee had been sitting in the car at the time of the accident.
The two-car accident occurred on State Hwy. 140 near Old Paris-Murray Rd. and six people in all were injured.
