UT Martin To Offer ACT Prep Sessions In Jackson, Parsons, Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin is offering regional students three opportunities for ACT preparation with sessions April 4-8 in Jackson, Parsons and Martin. The registration fee for each session is $45 per student.

The UT Martin Jackson Center will host a session from 4:30-8:30 p.m., April 4, in Jackson State Community College’s McWherter Building, located at 2046 N. Parkway in Jackson. The UT Martin Parsons Center will also host a session from 8 a.m.-noon, April 6, at the center, located at 975 Tennessee Ave. N. in Parsons. A third session will be offered from 4:30-8:30 p.m., April 8, on the main UT Martin campus.

The test-prep sessions will offer quick tips to improve student scores on each of the four test sections. Each of the sessions will also focus on time-saving strategies and study habits, as well as provide guidance for answering questions more efficiently. Participants will need to bring a pencil and paper.

“I took an ACT prep class with (UT Martin) a few weeks ago … and my composite score went up three points!” said a recent student. “I had my doubts about whether or not one night of prep would help much, but I found myself managing my time a lot better and moving through the reading and science sections much more efficiently.”

Alex Beene, UT Martin adjunct instructor, will teach the course. In five years, Beene has mentored more than 1,000 students who have received a combined total of $4.2 million in scholarships and financial aid.
