Union City, Tenn.—A semi truck driver was cited for driving with an unsecured load after he damaged his trailer trying to pull out of the Tyson Factory at Union City.
The driver, Enos Bowlin of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, was trying to leave the factory and turn right onto Tyson Drive. While making the right-hand turn, the truck and trailer became unattached and the trailer front landed on the roadway. At least 1 and ½ lanes of the two-lane roadway were blocked by the trailer.
Allen’s Wrecker arrived and lifted the trailer and took it to their garage for repairs. The wrecker service personnel checked the mechanism that attaches and locks to the trailer and could not find signs of mechanical malfunction. They said the most likely cause was that the driver failed to properly check the system after attaching the trailer, according to the police report.
