Camden Musician To Perform At Oscars With Queen

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Camden, Tenn.—A Camden musician who has been touring with Queen for the past several years will be on stage with them when they perform at the Oscars Sunday night.
Tyler Warren, 33, left Thursday night for Los Angeles and will be busy with rehearsals and pre-show run-throughs the next couple of days.
Tyler’s father, Allen Warren, told WENK/WTPR that Tyler will be performing percussion and back-up vocals for their Oscar performance. “I know they’re starting rehearsals already today,” he said, “and I know which songs they’ll perform and I know they’ll be opening the show. So make sure and watch from the beginning.”
Queen + Adam Lambert will be performing at the Oscars this year because the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” is nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and its star Rami Malek is nominated for Best Actor.
Warren has been a member of both the Queen Extravaganza tribute band and the more recently formed Queen + Adam Lambert and just returned from a world tour with them. Warren beat out the best drummers in the world and auditioned for Queen drummer Roger Taylor himself.
Tyler has been quoted as saying that he has loved Queen “since the womb” and his father explained that is literally true. Both his parents are musicians and, he said, “We used to put both Mozart and Queen on and put the headphones next to my wife’s stomach when she was pregnant. So, he literally has been listening to Queen all his life. We were huge Queen fans and still are, so this whole experience has been fun for us, too.”
His parents see their son perform three or four times a year with Queen + Adam Lambert and, he said, “It’s gotten to the point where Roger Taylor and Brian May greet us by name now when we arrive. They’re both very, very nice and this has been a great experience for the whole family.”
Tyler will be leaving at midnight Sunday for another gig, his father said. “He’ll leave right away for Jamaica. He’s going to be on the Monsters of Rock Cruise with Eddy Trunk.
