Stewart County, Tenn.—More details have been released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on Saturday afternoon’s accident in which a two-year old boy was hit by a vehicle in the Piney Campgrounds at the LBL in Stewart Co.

The little boy was rushed to Henry County after the accident where he was airlifted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital from Hwy. 79N in front of the Paris Landing Emergency Services Complex.
According to Lt. Travis Plotzer of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the two-year old was chasing a toy tractor at the family’s campsite and was struck by a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Donald Arnold, age 59, of Erin.
Plotzer said the boy’s family is from Grayson, Ky.
According to the report, Arnold and his passengers, Brenda Allen, age 41, of Livingston, and a four-year from Erin, were not injured in the accident. No charges were filed against Arnold.
The report indicates that Arnold was driving in a westerly direction on the vehicle pathway through Piney Campgrounds near the campsite of the little boy’s family. The little boy was chasing the toy and was struck.
No condition report on the little boy is available from the hospital.
Henry County emergency personnel were alerted around 1 p.m. Saturday to a report that a red jeep was coming from Piney Campgrounds with the little boy and that he was near Hwy. 79. The jeep was met at the Emergency Services Complex for transfer into the helicopter.
Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said members of his department, Henry County EMS, Henry County sheriff’s deputies, Paris Landing State Park rangers and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were at the scene helping with the situation.
