Child Struck; Airlifted From Hwy. 79N

Buchanan, Tenn.—A two-year-old child who was struck by a vehicle at Piney Campgrounds was airlifted to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital from Hwy. 79N near the Paris Landing Emergency Services Complex Saturday afternoon.
Hwy. 79 N was shut down for a short period of time to allow the LifeFlight helicopter to land at the Emergency Services Complex to transport the little boy.
Henry County emergency personnel were alerted around 1 p.m. today to a report that a red jeep was coming from Piney Campgrounds with the little boy and that he was near Hwy. 79. The jeep was met at the Emergency Services Complex for transfer into the helicopter.
Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said members of his department, Henry County EMS, Henry County sheriff’s deputies, Paris Landing State Park rangers and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were at the scene helping with the situation.
The little boy’s condition was unavailable from the hospital.
According to the dispatcher at the sheriff’s office, the little boy was struck by the car inside the Piney Campgrounds. More details were unavailable at this time.
