Belew, Bostwick, Rowdy Honored By Montgomery Co. Officials

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—Henry Co. Sheriff Monte Belew, Cpl. Stacey Bostwick and his K9 Rowdy were recognized by Montgomery Co. officials Monday night for the capture in October of accused murderer, kidnapper and arsonist Kirby Wallace.
Montgomery Co. Sheriff John Fuson and Montgomery County Mayor Chief of Staff Jeff Truitt presented proclamations to the three at the Henry Co. Commission meeting.
In his proclamation, Sheriff Fuson noted the quick response by the three in the early morning hours when FUson called to tell Belew that their K9 was injured. Belew, Bostwick and Rowdy left home around 2 a.m. and continued their exhausting work in the manhunt for Wallace in Stewart and Montgomery Counties.
“They responded without hesitation,” Fuson said. A few hours later, they captured Wallace. Belew and Bostwick spotted two deer stands and climbed into them, which gave them a different view of the terrain and from which they were able to see Wallace.
Truitt in his proclamation noted how exhausting the manhunt was for all involved—it included some 100 first responders. “Way to go and God bless,” Truitt said.
Truitt also presented donations from the Montgomery Co. Mayor’s office for The Shed, a non-profit organization operated by Henry Co. Deputy and School Resource Officer Michelle Brewer. The Shed collects and distributes donations for needy families in the county without red tape and no questions asked.
Belew noted that Henry Co. is the Volunteer County or the Volunteer State and said, “We’re lucky we were able” to capture Wallace “and we know in our hour of need, Montgomery County would be there for us.”
