Huntingdon, Tenn.—Carroll County General Sessions Judge Larry Logan ruled that the state established probable cause against two defendants accused of home invasions which injured an elderly resident and sent their case to the county grand jury.
Dakota Baggett, age 25, of Waverly, and James Hill, age 36, of New Johnsonville, are accused of attacking a 96-year-old woman in Carroll County and held other family members at gun point. According to an affidavit presented in court, Baggett and Hill are accused of duct taping the 96-year-old, hitting her in the head and face with a small bat and causing a deep knife wound to her forearm.
The two face a long list of charges in Carroll and other surrounding counties, including criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, especially aggravated kidnapping, and thefts.
Testifying at the hearing were family members of the victim, and Carroll County Sheriff’s Investigator Adam Meggs.
The cases against Baggett and Hill will go before the Carroll County Grand Jury in September.
The pair are also wanted on similar charges in other counties, including Benton, Humphreys and Henry County, where Hill was arrested after a two-week long search. Baggett was arrested earlier in Camden.
Baggett is represented by Ben Dempsey and Hill is represented by Seth Segraves.
Both Baggett and Hill are being held on $250,000 bond each in the Carroll County Jail.
