Author David Hayes To Speak On History Of Reelfoot Lake

Tiptonville, Tenn.–The Jackson Purchase Historical Society will meet on Saturday, November 3 beginning at 10:30 am. The speaker will be David G. Hayes who will discuss the history of the Reelfoot Lake area. He is the author of a book on that subject, which will be available at the meeting.
“Most people in the region are familiar with the great New Madrid Earthquakes of 1812 – 1813, but not as many may be familiar with the subsequent history of the region.” according to Society President Bill Mulligan. “David Hayes has been researching the area’s history for many years and has recovered a great deal of it; it is a fascinating history full of great stories and the full range of human experiences. I am very happy he is speaking at our meeting and that we will meet at Reelfoot Lake.”

David Hayes is a Senior Judge on the Tennessee State Court of Criminal Appeals and a life-long student of the history of the Reelfoot Lake area.
