One Arrested In Weakley Co. Shooting, Second Suspect Sought

Weakley County, Tenn.—One man is in jail and another is still being sought in the attempted homicide that occurred in Weakley Co. on October 12.
Ricky Lynn Gilbert, age 49, of Lexington, is in the Gibson Co. Jail after being located Friday, Oct. 19.
Investigators are still looking for Jeffrey Story, age 41, of 753 Mitchell Rd.,
Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan said the incident began in the early morning Oct. 12 when deputies were called to West Mitchell Rd. on a report that someone had been shot. Deputies could not find anyone shot and the people at the house denied any involvement in a shooting. Deputies did observe a shell casing on the living room floor, however.
Later that day, investigators helped deputies from Gibson Co. locate the victim in the shooting. McGowan said he is Joshua Montgomery, age 38, of Bradford. He had been hit in his left side by a grazing bullet.
During the course of the investigation it was found that Montgomery was shot at by Story and Gilbert and that Montgomery returned fire before fleeing in his truck. When his truck was located, it had bullet holes in it.
Both the suspects as well as the victim will be charged with possession of firearms since all are convicted felons, McGowan said.
