Paris, TN – “HAPNA in the Park – A Fantastic Fall Festival” is scheduled for Saturday, October 13 on the grounds of the Atkins-Porter Rec Center at the corner of Walnut and Highland Streets. The event is sponsored by the Historic Atkins Porter Neighborhood Association and runs from 11 am – 3 pm, rain or shine. And, it’s all FREE.
The “Touch A Truck” area features all sorts of emergency vehicles, construction vehicles and even the Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter. The Paris Police, Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office and Paris Fire Department will be there, too.
Lunch will be hot off the grill from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department and will be available from 11 am – 1 pm, or as long as the hotdogs, chips, water and cookies last. Lunch donations are encouraged to help the Historic Atkins Porter Neighborhood Association fund its many neighborhood activities.
Talented local arts and crafts vendors will also be on hand. Other exciting activity booths include the Birds of Prey from Paris Landing, plus Bethel University, Tomorrow’s Hope and a K-9 demonstration from Sheriff Monte Belew and his dog, Si.
An old-fashioned cakewalk is also on tap featuring cookies, cakes, Rice Krispies Treats, and cupcakes made by some of the neighborhood’s wonderful cooks. “Some youngsters have never experienced a cake walk, so we thought we’d include this traditional fall activity, which will last as long as the goodies hold out,” said Co-Chair Mary Hickman.
Because every family needs lasting fall memories, Tyler and Jessi Smith of Future Visions Farms in Whitlock have designed a free, photo booth for event goers to take pictures. The couple will be selling pumpkins, gourds and other locally grown fall décor.
