Memphis, Tenn.–Scott Williams, who will soon be serving as president and CEO of Discovery Park of America, was honored on Thursday night, Oct. 11 with the Charles E. Thornton Award from the department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis. The award honors outstanding alumni from the university who have made a difference and is named in honor of a former Memphis journalist who was killed while on assignment in Afghanistan in 1985. Williams graduated from the University of Memphis in 1989. Williams is currently the CEO at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. and worked previously at Graceland. He is a native of West Tennessee and will begin serving as Discovery Park CEO in a few weeks. (Discovery Park photo).
