Paris, Tenn.—A house at 409 W. Wood Street was destroyed by fire which began on the porch last night and rekindled into the attic overnight. Paris Fire Marshal Greg Andrews was on the scene this morning and has begun an investigation to see what triggered the fire.
Firefighters were first called to the house—which is just a few doors down from the fire department—at 7:11 p.m. last night. The department was called back around 3 a.m. when it rekindled and stayed until 5:48 a.m.
Andrews told WENK/WTPR the original fire began on the front right corner of the living room and onto the front porch. He said when it rekindled, it extended into the attic. There were no injuries to the occupant of the home.
The fire caused over $25,000 damage to contents and property. Pre-incident, the house was worth some $75,000.
The house is the property of Tiffany Bishop of Whitlock Rd.
