Union City, Tenn.–It was hard to tell who was more excited.
More than 250 grandparents delighted in visiting Union City Elementary School Monday and Tuesday, celebrating Grandparents Day with equally-thrilled students from pre-K to the fourth grade.
Children performed songs and shared refreshments with their grandparents in the school courtyard. There were multiple picture-taking opportunities that were taken advantage of, too.
Principal Rene Flood and Assistant Principal David Denning welcomed the special guests while UCMS teachers served refreshments and mingled with both students and grandparents.
“We had a great, great turnout,” Flood said. “And we had so many grandparents comment how beautiful our courtyard was and how it was a great place to have Grandparents Day.
“Both the grandparents and the students were so thrilled.”
It marked the fifth year UCES has commemorated Grandparents Day.
