Union City, Tenn.—More than $130,000 was raised during the Junior Market Livestock Sale Tuesday night at the Obion County Fair.
Obion Co. Extension Agent Griff Strode joined the extension service after the retirement last year of long-time Extension Agent Tim Smith and said he was impressed with the hard work done by the youngsters as well as the people in the crowd who came prepared to bid on the livestock. He said he was excited to be involved in his first Junior Livestock Auction with the fair.
Strode said 72 youngsters were involved with the sale and of the total raised, he said $120,000 came from private individuals and businesses at the sale.
