Union City, Tenn.—The countdown clock on the Obion County Fair website is ticking down the days, hours and seconds until the fair begins and this one will be even more special than usual.

This is the 60th Obion County Fair and it runs August 20-25 with plenty of new and traditional activities jam-packed into the week.

A Pre-Fair Day is Saturday, August 18, to get everyone going. It begins with a 5K and Fun Run at 8 a.m. (with registration at the main gate at 7:30 a.m.).

The mule show begins at 11 a.m. at Hunter Miller Livestock Barn, following by a garden tractor pull at 3 p.m., and the annual Tyson Foods Community Feed at the grandstand at 5. The carnival also opens at 5 p.m. (One price $12)

For the fair itself, like we said there will be plenty of new and old attractions to keep everyone entertained through the week. One thing that will keep everyone entertained will be the nightly $1,000 drawings.

The pageants will be held, with the Fairest of the Fair, Teen Fair and Junior Miss contests on Monday night. Championship Wrestling will be back this year, plus a Ranch Rodeo will be held. The Back Porch Stage will be busy with local entertainers again.

The Youth Musicals will return this year and the kids have been practicing a lot. Some new contests such as the Queen of the Kitchen and Best Dressed Closet contests will be held. The Pet Show will return, as will the crowd favorites demolition derby and Barney Fife tribute artist.

The schedules are available in the fair books which are available at the fair office and other locations in Obion Co. Or you can look at the fair’s website at https://www.obioncountyfair.net/ and the Obion County Fair Facebook page.
We also will be posting the daily schedules on the WENK/WTPR website and Facebook pages.
