Union City, Tenn.—A ceremony was conducted Tuesday morning at Obion County Central High School as “In God We Trust” plaques were displayed at the school.
New Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins, along with all Obion County Schools principals, School Board Members Keisha Hooper and Barry Adams, and central office supervisors were on hand.
Dr. Watkins said the Woodland Mills Baptist Church Friendship Class donated funds for the vinyl display. Plaques displaying the motto were also given to each school to display in their front offices. She said those plaques were purchased through system funds.
The state of Tennessee recently passed legislation requiring schools to prominently display the national “In God We Trust” motto.
