HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Union City’s high school varsity football team will have its final dress rehearsal for the 2018 season Friday when it faces perennial Class 4A power Haywood in the fifth annual STAR Physical Therapy/West Tennessee Bone and Joint Jamboree at Dyersburg.
The reigning Double-A state champion Tornadoes will play two halves against the Tomcats, who return most of their starters from last season’s 11-win team that made it to the semifinals.
The halves will consist of 20-minute periods with the clock running continuously until the final two minutes of each half. Each team will receive two timeouts in each half. No rush will be allowed on punt or PAT attempts and there will be no returns on kick plays. Possession will change hands at the end of each half.
Tickets are $8 apiece and will be available at the gate. There will be no advance tickets sold.
