Two State Funding Announcements For Paris Tuesday

 
 
Paris, Tenn.—Tuesday will be a big day for Paris city officials and residents as State Officials will be making two important grant presentations: one for the planning Eiffel Tower Park improvements and the other for a Transportation Alternative Grant announcement.
 
Both announcements will be held at 2 p.m. at Paris City Hall.
 
Deputy Governor Jim Henry, TDEC, TDOT and local officials, including Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell, State Rep. Tim Wirgau will be on hand for the announcements. State Sen. John Stevens will be on hand for the TDOT announcement.
 
The City of Paris will match the $500,000 TDEC Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant at the same level for a total project cost of $1,000,000 to construct a splash pad, pavilions and family area at the Eiffel Tower Park. The city will expand the existing parking lot by 40 spaces, including three handicapped spots and an ADA restroom facility. They will also create a youth spray zone, two pavilions and an interactive ground spray feature. The pavilions will be ADA-accessible from sidewalk connections. Eight shade sails will also be constructed around perimeter.
 
On the same day, TDEC officials will make a presentation to the city of Selmer at 11 a.m. The City of Selmer will match the $500,000 TDEC Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant at the same level for a total project cost of $1,000,000 to improve field drainage, improving adjacent drainage infrastructure, install automatic irrigation systems to each of existing fields, mend or replace fencing and backstops as needed, install new bleachers at each field, renovate the existing dugouts, renovate existing Scorekeeper’s Stands, build a new 30’x36’ concession stand with ADA compliant restrooms and storage for maintenance equipment, and overlay the existing roads and walkways to improve ADA mobility.
