Applications Accepted For Citizens Government Academy

 
Paris, Tenn.- The Paris Citizens Government Academy is a new and free seven week program being offered and conducted by the City of Paris. The program is open to residents, and business owners, age 18 or older.
There is no charge to attend the Paris Citizens Government Academy program but applications are required to participate.
Participants will be expected to commit to attending every session scheduled in the seven week duration of the program.
This will be an interactive and hands on experience for those who attend.
The agenda for this academy will provide a comprehensive review on how our municipal government is structured, what city services are available and how those available services are delivered, how the city is governed overall, as well as the city’s budget and how your tax dollars are spent.
APPLICATIONS
The City of Paris has provided an application for the new program on it’s website, www.paristn.gov.
To submit an application online, send by email to mstancook@cityofparistn.gov.
Applications can also be acquired and dropped off at the City of Paris Business Office which is located at 100 North Caldwell Street in Downtown Paris.
NOTE: Applications will be accepted no later than Friday, July 20. Candidates will be notified by Tuesday, July 24.
SCHEDULE
The City of Paris Citizens Government Academy will be held for the first time beginning in July, 2018.
The class will meet every Tuesday evening for 7 straight weeks, beginning July 31st.
The class will begin at 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. (some nights the class may only last 2 hours).
Classes will be held in the Meeting Room at City Hall, however, there will be nights that the class will meet in other City facilities depending on which department is highlighted.

July 31 – Orientation / General Admin / Finance / Community Development
August 7 – Building Inspection / Storm Water / Codes Enforcement / Planning & Zoning
August 14 – Parks / Civic Center / KPAC
August 21 – Fire & Animal Control
August 28 – Public Works & Landfill
September 4 – Police & Dispatch
