Kenton, Tenn.—There are big doings coming up in Kenton beginning this weekend and going through next week as the annual White Squirrel Festival commences from June 30-July 7.
Plenty of activities are in store, including a 4th of July parade and fireworks, along with events scheduled every day including live music, community church service, auction, bingo, cornhole tournament, 5K race, and car, truck, bike and tractor show. The White Squirrel Arts and Crafts show also will be held.
The event is hosted by the White Squirrel Winery in Kenton.
Here is what is scheduled for the week:
Saturday, June 30: Veterans breakfast 8-10 a.m. at Kenton Youth Center.
Sunday, July 1: Community Church Service with The Shepherd Family of Henry performing, 6 p.m., Kenton City Gym.
Monday, July 2: Bingo, Kenton gym, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, July 3: Grand Marshal Luncheon for Parade Grand Marshal Jennifer Chandler, noon, at White Squirrel Deli.
Wednesday, July 4: 5K at Kenton City Park, 8 a.m.; parade at 11 a.m. downtown; cornhole tournament at 2 p.m. at gym; live music, 6 p.m., city gym; fireworks at dusk at the city park.
Friday, July 6: Business open houses all day; auction at 7 p.m. in city gym.
Saturday, July 7: Arts and crafts festival, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. downtown; car, truck, bike and tractor show, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at park; 3-point basketball contest, 6 p.m. at the gym. The Hinson Hill Music Project will perform from 5-8 p.m. at the Winery to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs.
