South Fulton, Tenn.—South Fulton High School Head Football Coach Eric Knott is recovering after surgery for cancer discovered on his tongue. The surgery was performed at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.
Knott has been head coach for five seasons.
He was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma about two weeks ago.
The surgery was reportedly a success and the tumor was removed from the tongue. He will be coming home in a few days and will have radiation treatments, but will not require chemo or a feeding tube.
