Murray State Police Issues Warning About Individual Banned From Campus

 
 
Murray, Ky.—The Murray State University Police Department has issued a ‘timely warning’ about an individual who has been banned from all Murray State property.
 
On June 4, the Murray State Police received a court order from the Logan County Kentucky Circuit Court regarding Lyle Scott Newsom. Murray State Police had an interaction with Newsome May 29, resulting in him being banned from campus property.
 
According to the press release from the Murray State police, Newsom said several times during the incident he would come back to campus.
 
Based on this, the department conducted a threat assessment and determined that Newsom poses a threat to the campus. The department has posted photos of him and his description on its Facebook page.
 
If anyone sees him on campus, they are asked to contact the police department immediately by calling 270 809 2222.
 
Newsome is a white male, 50 years old, 5’10” tall, around 300 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes. Drives a red Chevy HHR with Kentucky registration plate number 945WGP. He currently resides in Mayfield, but has used a Murray address.
