Remembering The Fallen

Paris, Tenn.—Scott McDevitt and Matt Hayes watch as Scouts Riley McDevitt and Paul Tusa place flags at the Rye Family gravesite in Maplewood Cemetery Saturday morning. Governor Thomas Rye was the governor of the state of Tennessee during WWI and his family members served in the war. Boy Scout Troop 28 places flags at veterans’ graves in Maplewood every year on Memorial Day weekend. Some 500 flags were placed on graves Saturday. In other photos, Scott McDevitt and his son Riley try to decipher a name on a grave; and Tony Jackson oversees Fisher Lawrence, Avery Jackson and AJ Diaz as they place flags.
