Paris, Tenn.–Receiving awards from Duke University’s Talent Identification Program are Lakewood Middle School seventh grade students, Mason Elliott, son of Billy and Marissa Elliott; Charly Hutson, daughter of Chip and Lisa Hutson; Ella Seaton daughter of Cale and Tracy Seaton; and Carson Tucker, son of Joseph and Shelbi Tucker.
The students attended a State Recognition Ceremony held at Belmont University on May 7, 2018 for their recent ACT scores. According to Leigh Anne Durham, Gifted Coordinator, “Students qualified for the state ceremonies by earning ACT scores that are approximately equal to the 50th national percentile rank for college-bound seniors taking the tests. Elliott, Hutson, and Tucker received awards for their science scores, while Seaton was awarded for scores in the reading portion. These students were able to participate due to their enrollment with Duke TIP which identifies academically talented students in the United States based on their exceptional grade-level standardized test scores. Only those who score at or above the 95th percentile qualify.”
