Dover, Tenn.–Come and view the Fort Donelson Bald Eagle family close up, via spotting scopes, this weekend, May 19th and 20th — a wonderful opportunity to see America’s symbolic birds!
In conjunction with the Town of Dover’s annual “Eagle Fest” event, visitors to the battlefield will have the opportunity to look through a spotting scope. To be located near the log hut at Tour Stop #3, the opportunity provides a chance to see the park’s nesting eagle pair and their off-spring close up.
A park ranger will be on hand to answer questions about the eagle pair and other park wildlife, as was as to share about the battle and those that participated.
Viewing times will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Those attending should park either at the Tourist Stop #3 area, or in the parking lot of the picnic/comfort station area.
As an added opportunity, those attending Eagle Fest are encouraged to stop by the Fort Donelson National Battlefield tent. At the tent we will have information about the park and its bald eagles, junior ranger activities for the children, and a very special, furry guest.
Eagle Fest is located at the Lick Creek Park, Dover.
