Paris, Tenn.—Numerous dogs and puppies found living in what the Henry County Sheriff’s deputies called deplorable conditions at a home on Tanglewood Lane outside of Paris on Wednesday are now at the sheriff office’s animal shelter. The two people living at the home have been arrested.
Captain Adam Jenkins said deputies were alerted to the conditions by a tip. “Someone called with a complaint and said we should check on the dogs at the house,” Jenkins said.
All the adult dogs and puppies were first taken to veterinarians at Mineral Wells Animal Clinic. All were check out and are now up-to-date on their vaccines and deworming. However, they are not yet available for adoption because of the pending court case.
Residents of the house at 240 Tanglewood Lane were James Harper and Beverly Buie and both were taken to the Henry County Jail. Buie already was released on bond, but Harper remains in jail on $20,000 bond. Jenkins said Harper was recently arrested on drug charges during “Operation Blind Justice”, the drug sweep that was conducted in March by deputies and other law enforcement agencies.
Donations will be needed for the care of the confiscated canines and the animals which already are at the sheriff’s office animal shelter. You can call the shelter at 641 8090 or the sheriff’s office at 642 1672 for more information on how to help.
