Paris, Tenn.—A Martin man indicted on multiple charges including vehicular homicide and DUI turned himself in Tuesday at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Griffin, age 34, was indicted last week by the Henry County Grand Jury and charged with vehicular homicide, DUI first offense, reckless driving, improper lane usage, speeding, failure to exercise due care and violation of the seat belt law.
A McKenzie woman was killed in the accident, which occurred in August of 2017, on Hwy. 79 S near Henry. Stacey L. Couturier, age 37, was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Griffin.
Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the accident and said at the time that a semi driven by Billy Osburn of Paris was making a right turn onto a field road when Griffin attempted to pass the truck in the emergency lane (on the right shoulder of the highway).
Griffin posted the $10,000 bond that had been set and was released.
