Buchanan, Tenn.—Bethel University’s fishing team came out on top at this year’s Big Bass Bash, with Team Member Brian Pahl hauling in the top bass, with a 9.22 pound giant largemouth. The tournament was held on Kentucky Lake at Paris Landing State Park. Fellow Bethel Team member Rick Harris took fifth place with his 7.49 pound bass.

Coach Garry Mason noted, “The Bethel Bass Cats have now won back to back Big Bass Bash tournaments out of Paris Landing State Park as Bethel angler Evan Owrey won the event for Bethel last year.”

Paul hails from St. Louis and Harris is from Mt. Vernon, Ky.

A total 479 anglers from colleges all over the country competed in the weekend-long tournament, which is sponsored by Cabela’s.

Bethel’s team, which is coached by Garry Mason and Kenny Loudon, is recognized as one of the best teams in the United States. Bethel won last year’s Big Bass Bash.
