Paris, Tenn.—A Paris man who was arrested in connection with the homicide at the Puryear Mini-Mart last year was indicted on murder and other charges by the Henry County Grand Jury Monday.
A Cottage Grove man also was indicted in connection with the murder, but on reduced charges.
Phillip Lee Nelson, age 20, of Memorial Drive in Paris, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is still being held in the Henry County Jail on $500,000 bond.
The homicide occurred at the Mini-Mart in November 2017 when a young Hazel man, Joshua Hadra, age 22, was shot and killed in the parking lot.
Also indicted was Ralph Vulpita, age 30, of Lampkins Road, Cottage Grove. He was indicted on a charge of possession of meth with intent to deliver. Originally, Vulpita had been arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
A total of 32 individuals were indicted Monday and two of the indictments were secret and those individuals have not yet been arrested.
Also indicted by the Grand Jury were: Eddie Ray Bryant, Sloan Road, Buchanan, aggravated assault; Michael T. Evans, E. Wood St, Paris, aggravated assault; and David G. McManis, S. Poplar St., Paris; aggravated assault and domestic assault.
As always, most of the indictments involved DUI and drug charges, along with burglary and theft charges.
