Buchanan, Tenn.—A fishing pier at Paris Landing State Park that had deteriorated has been removed and will be replaced by a floating pier that will elevate and lower as water levels rise and fall.
The pier was located at the beach by the marina and had deteriorated over time.
The pier was a popular fishing spot and anglers will be fishing from the shore in the meantime.
Paris Landing Park Superintendent Joan Williams told WENK/WTPR that the project represents a partnership between Paris Landing, TWRA and the TVA.
The new floating pier will be a great improvement, she said, and will be built with a hinge system that rises and falls with the water levels.
The project is being overseen by TWRA Fisheries Manager Tim Broadbent, she said.
The new pier will be installed by the early summer, she said.
The old pier always flooded in high water, causing damage to the wood which had deteriorated over the past few years.
