Springville, Tenn.—A van that the owner had just purchased was destroyed when it started on fire as he was driving it home.
The Paris Landing Fire Department was dispatched to 620 Russwood Drive around 3 p.m. Sunday on
a report of a van on fire with other vehicles close by.
Fire Chief Reggie Coles said, “Arriving units found a 1997 full size Dodge Van fully engulfed in flames. The owner Mr. Richard Crosby stated he had just purchased the van and as he was arriving at his home it began smoking. By the time he could get stopped flames were coming out from underneath the vehicle.”
A leaking hydraulic line is the suspected cause, Coles said. The van was valued at $850. Two trucks and 7 firefighters were on the scene for 30 minutes.
