Benton, Ky.—Six juveniles were charged Thursday with making threats to schools in the Marshall County School System and the County Sheriff’s Office said it continues to conduct investigations and look into any potential threats to students.
Marshall County High School was the scene of a school shooting in January which killed two students and injured multiple others.
In a press release, the Marshall Co. Sheriff’s Office reported that on Thursday, School Resource Officer Sergeant Ray Chumbler and Deputy William Strader “investigated six different reports of threats or comments made by students in our school system.”
According to the release, six juveniles were charged with Terroristic Threatening 2nd Degree and by order of the Juvenile Court lodged in the Juvenile Detention Center.
“We have no reason to believe that any of these threats constitute a current danger to any of our schools as those making the threats or comments were placed in detention. All of our area law enforcement agencies takes these threats seriously and will continue to investigate and take action when appropriate,” according to the release.
