Paris, Tenn.—It was a routine session for the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Thursday morning, with General Manager Terry Wimberley looking ahead to future needs for the utility.
Wimberley said he will be bringing two locan applications to the board at its March meeting. One will be in the water department—the final loan for completion of the water plant; and the other in the wastewater department—for planning and design of the next step for that plant.
He said staff and he have been looking at long-range financial plans for the electrical department, looking at current cash levels and what needs are for the future, specifically at the upcoming Eagle Creek project and TVA’s new rate structure.
“We’re looking for a five-year plan there,” he said. “My goal is to have no more than two rate increases over the next five-year period and to do what’s best for the customers.”
The next BPU meeting is March 27.
