School Shooting Defendant To Be Prosecuted As Adult

Benton, Ky.  The 15-year-old student accused in the shooting at Marshall County High School was arraigned today and will be prosecuted as an adult.

Because he will be considered an adult for court and prosecution purposes, the Kentucky State Police officially released his name for the first time.

Gabriel R. Parker, age 15, of Hardin, Kentucky, was arraigned in Marshall County Circuit Court.

A Marshall County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Tuesday, charging Parker with two counts of Murder and fourteen counts of First Degree Assault.  The charges stem from the January 23 shooting at Marshall County High School which killed two of his fellow students and injured multiple others.
Prosecutors had sought for the defendant to be prosecuted as an adult.
