Obion, Tenn.—Reelfoot Rural Ministries is the recipient of a $30,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving program.
The funds are being used for the program’s grocery assistance program for families in Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky and its Backpack Buddies program serving students in the Lake County School System.
Reelfoot Rural Ministries’ “grocery assistance ministry remains a vital resource to more than 300 households per month in the service area,” said Rev. Robert Craig, the program’s Executive Director.
“This generous grant from the Walmart Foundation will help us continue to meet the increased needs of our neighbors in times of financial stress. Additionally, this grant will allow us to expand on the way we offer resources and hope to our Reelfoot Lake neighbors,” he said.
Reelfoot Ministries is an extension ministry of the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church dedicated to serving the needs of individuals and families in Northwest Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky through services such as food assistance, day care, home rehabilitation projects, and dental and vision clinics.
