Paris, Tenn.—Among the 535 items that have been donated for First United Methodist Church Day at today’s Helping Hand auction is a set of scrubs worn by Anthony Edwards during the filming of the popular television show, “ER”.
The scrubs come with a certificate of authenticity and are donated by Katie Huggins.
Today will be an especially busy day at Helping Hand, with the FUMC members donating items at both an afternoon auction and an in-house auction held in the evening. The afternoon auction begins at noon and will be aired on WTPR-AM 710. The evening auction begins at 6 p.m., but will not be broadcast. There also will be a silent auction.
The auction is held at the Enoch Building at the Henry County Fairgrounds.
You can expect lively bidding and big numbers posted today. Every year, First United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church have a friendly rivalry in which members go all out to raise as much as they can on those days.
Additionally, a soup and sandwich lunch will be provided by church members, starting at noon.
Each year, thousands of dollars are raised by volunteers for a long list of non-profit organizations in the county. Last year, over $350,000 was raised by Helping Hand.
Helping Hand will run through February 28 and is held each day at the fairgrounds. The Helping Hand Radio Auction is broadcast daily on WTPR AM 710 beginning at 12:30 p.m., and on Saturdays at noon.
