Paris, Tenn.—The Henry County Fair was awarded first place for its fair booklet at the 20th Annual Fair Showcase, beating 42 fairs which presented 472 entries.
Long-time Fair Association Member and Volunteer Deneicia Gregson—who oversees the fair book–said the judges look at overall appearance, layout and look for specific items they want to be included.
The awards were given at the 96th annual Tennessee Association of Fairs convention. Henry County is a Class AA fair and placed first in the category of best premium book. The annual Fair Showcase is a competition held within the convention.
Gregson explained that Henry County is a AA fair, based on county population.
In a press release from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Commissioner Jai Templeton said, “Agricultural education is as important as it has ever been. County fairs provide an opportunity for communities across Tennessee to learn about the largest industry in our state while enjoying tradition and making new memories.“
