
Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor Geiger learned on Thursday the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will be focused on clearing remaining ice covered state highways in Henry County Friday through the weekend.
Some Henry County TDOT plows were reassigned this past week to assist with rapid interstate clearing on Interstate 40 and other harder hit counties to allow for faster emergency access for first responders and for safety of travelers.
Henry County Emergency Management reports main roads continue to improve with single lanes clear on most main state roads. However, side streets and county roads remain ice covered and hazardous.
EMA Director Ron Watkins said, “Bitterly cold temperatures will return over the weekend. Fridays high temperature will be 28 degrees and single digit and even sub-zero wind chills are expected Saturday and Sunday mornings. Paris BPU continues to report zero power issues today compared to other counties in Tennessee. Over 103K customers remain without power across Tennessee. Roads/bridges will remain hazardous during refreezing during the evening hours and this weekends cold temperatures.”
Inman School Tornado Shelter, 400 Harrison St, Paris, remains open as a community warming shelter. There were 7 persons there on Thursday.
