Henry Co. Government Offices Closed Friday

Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger announced Henry County General Government will remain closed Friday, Jan 30, due to the continued hazardous travel conditions caused by Winter Storm Fern.
County departments closed include the Courthouse, Annex, Airport, Central Building, Health Dept, Recycling Center and offices at Grove Campus.  County offices are expected to be in a better position to reopen Monday Feb 2 for to resume normal operations.
Ice continues to cause hazardous road conditions due to refreezing at night.  Thursdays temperature is expected to reach 37 degrees. Mayor Geiger said, “Again, in an abundance of caution, I have decided to remain closed on Friday due to the icy conditions on county property sidewalks, parking lots , ect. and the continued hazardous roadways.  We do not want the public or employees to risk injury getting out to conduct county business or report to work.”
Henry County Emergency Management reports main roads continue to improve with single lanes clear on most main state roads, however, side streets and county roads remain ice covered and hazardous.  Bitterly cold temperatures will return over the weekend.
Fridays high temperature will be 28 degrees and single digit and even sub-zero wind chills are expected Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Paris BPU continues to report zero power issues today compared to other counties in TN. Over 103K customers remain without power across Tennessee. Roads/bridges will remain hazardous during refreezing during the evening hours and this weekends cold temperatures.
Inman School Tornado Shelter, 400 Harrison St, Paris, remains open as a community warming shelter.  There were 6 persons were there on Thursday.
