| Union City, Tenn.–Experience a 19th-century Christmas come to life during By the Campfire’s Glow: A Living History Christmas this Friday, Dec. 12, and Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Settlement area at Discovery Park of America.
Led by J.C. Stahlman and a group of reenactors, this special event brings historic holiday traditions to life with authentic camp scenes, crackling fires, storytelling and samples of traditional wassail. It’s a unique addition to your “Let It Glow” walk-thru experience. On Saturday, the Living Historians will be on site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., cooking turkey and fowl over an open fire and sharing stories about gear, uniforms and period Christmas decorations. Evening activities include period music around the campfire, weapon firing demonstrations and the exchanging of gifts between campers. This offers guests a glimpse into how Christmas was celebrated on the frontier. This event is included with your “Let It Glow” walk-thru admission.
